Summary

At Eden’s urging, Don tells the story that inspired the painting. In Ancient Mexico, a princess was born, and the years of her youth brought much rain. When she was 18 years old, her father led a defense against invaders and brought back captives. One captive was tattooed, and the princess asked that he tattoo her. The captive did so, but one day, he raped her. He was shackled and castrated and was forced to be a slave to the princess. The king of the Aztecs soon desired to marry the princess, as the Aztec land was suffering a severe drought. After the marriage, the drought ended. The princess, now a queen, had secret lovers and was eventually caught in her infidelity by the Aztec king. The king killed the queen, and a drought soon began.
