Point of View

The story’s narration is written in the third person and the past tense. However, the story adheres to only one character’s perspective at any given time. For the most part, the story is written from Don’s perspective. The story opens with descriptions of Don’s life, expository details about his background, and even direct conveyances of some of Don’s thoughts. Before Don and Eden become fully acquainted, the story adheres to Don’s perspective so as to simulate the feelings of distance and infatuation that Don feels towards Eden.
