Chapter 3 and Tuesday, August 20 Summary

In the bathroom, Serena asks Erin how she's going to get along without Geppetto. Serena says Jilly is Geppetto and Erin is Pinocchio as in the puppeteer and puppet. Erin punches Serena in the face.

Mrs. Porter, the principal, has a puppet collection behind her, while Erin is talking to her in the office. Erin eventually confesses to why she hit Serena. When Erin's parents arrive, they are told of her offense. Erin gets three days of detention and has to apologize to Serena. After school, Erin goes to Jilly's house and tells her the whole story. She also gives Jilly the maps Jilly asked her to draw to coordinate with Jilly's class schedule. As Erin gives Jilly the maps, she feels a twinge.
