Summary

Chapter 5: “Fallen with the Night” describes the aftermath of the demon attack in St. Regent’s Park. The Shadowhunters congregate at the Institute, where the injured are collected. James speaks to his Uncle Jem – though they are not biologically related – about Barbara, who says she saw James in a vision before he fell into the shadow realm at the ball. Jem is curious about this link, but says he must first focus on how to cure the poisonous effects ailing Barbara, Piers, and Ariadne.

Cordelia, meanwhile, tries to make herself useful in the makeshift hospital. She speaks to Jem about her father briefly, but Jem mysteriously avoids giving her more information about him. Lucie then convinces Cordelia to accompany her to Chiswick House, where Grace lives, so that Lucie may seek out a ghost she believes can help cure the injured. She does...
