Part 1, The Spark: Chapters 7-9 Summary

In chapter seven, Katniss leaves a sign for Gale and walks out to the lake her father once took her to to wait for him. When he arrives, Katniss quickly tells Gale about the president's threats against him and her desire to run away with both his family and hers. Gale quickly agrees and then confesses his love to her. Katniss refuses to respond to this declaration. Then she tells Gale that she plans to ask Haymitch and Peeta to come along as well. Gale gets angry and suggests that Katniss would do more good if she sparked an uprising. After Gale rushes off in anger, Katniss returns to the village and finds Peeta walking into town to have lunch with his family. Katniss tells him of her plan to run away and he quickly...
