Cat Kid Comic Club: Collaborations is the fourth installment of the Cat Kid Comic Club series. In this graphic novel, a reporter named Sarah Hatoff is following the 21 frogs who are members of the Cat Kid Comic Club which is led by Petey the cat and a tadpole named Molly. Sarah leads the characters in explaining about their creative process. Starla and Summer are the two frogs who lead Sarah on a walk through the woods as they explain how they combine photos, haiku poetry, and Shodo writing to create their comics. Wendy and Raine have used computer-generated images to write about Baby Flippy. Other frogs have used other processes to create an array of comics, including Chubbs McSpiderbutt, Little Baby, Frogzilla, and the Mallo Cop.

The 21 frogs who participate in the club are anxiously awaiting news that they are going to have a comic book published. Two frogs, Naomi and Melvin, want to take on more responsibility and become angry that their dad – Flippy the fish – will not even let them talk to the publisher on the phone. Once Flippy has confirmed the details of the contract, he hands out envelopes with 50-dollar advances for each frog. He says the bulk of the advance has gone into the frogs' college fund. Molly and Petey, who began the club, also receive advances. When Naomi and Melvin complain that they have more responsibility and should have a bigger share of the advance, Flippy says they can take responsibility for repairing his phone that they broke. When they finish that chore, they spend the rest of their money on candy.

Meanwhile, Flippy suggests the other frogs give five dollars of their advance money to a shelter that provides necessities, toys, and books to those in need. Poppy hands over all her money, saying she already has what she needs. The others follow suit. When Melvin and Naomi return and discover what the other frogs have done, they feel very small. As they discuss whether this makes them bad, Poppy arrives. She explains that she has come to realize doing a small thing that is good can have long-reaching effects. She throws a pebble in the water to demonstrate. Later, Naomi and Melvin apologize to Flippy for being “a pain.” He loves them anyway, but yells at them when they break out in an argument about who loves Flippy the most.
