Summary

Mercer was invited to dinner with Bruce, a touring female author named Sally, and Andy Adam. Mercer was jealous of Sally because she was able to support herself by writing full-time. She was also jealous because Bruce appeared to be paying more attention to Sally than he was to her. Sally and Bruce left together. Andy commented that Sally would be staying the night with Bruce. Mercer pretended not to understand, and Andy explained that Bruce and Noelle had an open marriage.

Because Mercer’s sister Connie and her family were coming to spend two weeks in the cottage, Mercer moved temporarily to a bed and breakfast. Meanwhile, Denny and Rooker were scoping out Bruce’s home and store, trying to be patient and work out a plan that would allow them to get more money for the manuscripts from Bruce without their attempt...
