Chapter 11 Summary

After sending Dr. Athens away with instructions, Dr. Griffith prepares his syringes and hides, worrying his plans will all fall through, but should that happen, he will kill the intruders himself because he has come too far and accomplished too much to allow anyone to stop him now. He then recalls taking the compound over. Griffith killed the other researchers except for Athens, Kinneson and Thurman who he infected with his gift, and though Ammon managed to hide for a while, Griffith found and killed him also. Pacing restlessly, Dr. Griffith assures himself "they won't stop me. It's mine" (p. 159). After David completes the test in Block D, he notices Karen's right eye is bloodshot, but she assures him it is just irritated. They head back to rejoin Rebecca and Steve.
