Summary

Chapter Ten begins with narrative focus on Rudy, angry and in pain in the aftermath of his escape from the subway. Even as the power of the duppy in the bowl cures his injuries, he realizes that it is hungry and needs to be fed. He also makes plans to once again go after Tony. His contemplations are interrupted by the arrival of the elevator and the emergence of Ti-Jeanne, whom only he can see (as a result of the ritual Ti-Jeanne performed) and whom he knows can see him. Crack, unaware of Ti-Jeanne, takes the elevator down to the bottom of the tower to try and find out why it came up. After he has gone, Ti-Jeanne shoots Rudy, but his wounds are again / still healed by the duppy, whom he then orders to kill Ti-Jeanne. He is surprised...
