Summary

The narration then returns to the crematorium, where Tony and Ti-Jeanne help Mami recover from the exertions of the ritual. Ti-Jeanne tries to find out from both Tony and Mami what happened, but they are both too concerned with getting Tony away. Mami does seem to know, however, that Prince of Cemetery spoke through Ti-Jeanne, and tells her that in order to make sure he does not completely ruin her mind through his possessions, she has to come back and be her (Mami’s) assistant. As Ti-Jeanne struggles to absorb this news, Mami urges her to hurry and collect the rose, and then take a couple of bicycles from the barn so that she and Tony can make their departure more quickly.
