Summary

Chapter 26 starts with a Teek saying that all men are betrayers.

Xiala wakes up in Serapio's room and feels the wound on her throat. She is overwhelmed by homesickness, but remembers when her mother and elders cast her out the day Xiala was found in the blood of another.

The second time she wakes up, she finds Serapio at the captain's bench. She retrieves some alcohol and contemplates what to say. He apologizes for the crew, but says he had to save her. Then, he shows her the crows he has been talking to and says they will continue to Tova. Xiala offers to use her Song, but wants to know what his journey is for.
