Batman/Bruce Wayne

Batman is a vigilante who fights crime in Gotham City. Although he often works outside the law, Batman has a good working relationship with Police Chief Jim Gordon, and they coordinate many of their activities. Batman trusts Gordon almost completely. Less well known to Batman at the beginning of the book is district attorney Harvey Dent, but Batman immediately appreciates Dent's zeal in eliminating crime. However, Batman will come to suspect that Dent is the Holiday killer later in the book. Batman makes a pact with Gordon and Dent at the beginning of the book to fight the crime lord Carmine "The Roman" Falcone without breaking the law. Batman often finds it difficult to not break the law because of the righteous anger he directs at criminals, but he usually manages not to give in to his more destructive urges.
