Chapter One Summary

The story opens at a wedding party at the home of Carmine Falcone in June.

Chapter one begins with Bruce Wayne declaring that he believes in Gotham City. Wayne is at the wedding of Johnny Viti, who is the nephew of Carmine "The Roman" Falcone, the most powerful crime lord in Gotham. Wayne tells Falcone that he is only attending the wedding because his parents knew Falcone. Falcone responds that Wayne's father was more than just a friend to Falcone, but Wayne tells Falcone that that is in the past. Falcone tells Wayne that Richard Daniel has informed him that Gotham City Bank will do business with the Falcone family, but Wayne refuses to influence the bank board for Falcone.
