The Pitfalls of Religion

Mixtli tells his own personal story, but the purpose of this narration is also to tell about the world of the Mixeca nation and its life and death. The Catholic Bishop and priests are especially interested in the religious ceremonies of the One World. In one sense, the human sacrifices of the Mexica are particularly disgusting and horrible. For example, on the day of the dedication of the Great Pyramid of Tenochtitlan, thousands of captured warriors were sacrificed to the war god. Many rituals involve the ritual killing of captives, and slaves. In a way more horrible is the killing of ordinary people who are chosen as sacrificial victims. Nochipa, Mixtli's beloved daughter is chosen as the young person to be raped and then sacrificed. Her body is then turned into a type of costume, which a priest wears and dances around in, while drugged...
