Summary

In Chapter 33, Lila arrives at the only funeral home in Shady Palms. Mrs. Long and Mr. Long are standing with a woman Lila does not know. She hears Mrs. Long chastise Mr. Long, reminding him they are not going to make a scene. Lila does not believe she can face Mrs. Long, but Terrence Howell greets Mrs. Long and encourages Lila to do the same. Mr. Long insists that Mrs. Long go with him to the funeral director's office. Members of Lila's family introduce themselves to Cate who is Mr. Long's sister but makes it clear she is here to support Nancy. Lila wonders if anyone else is going to show up.
