Summary

Yunjae introduces himself as a monster. Though this is his story, he is unsure if it is happy or tragic.

On the day of the incident, six died. Yunjae's mother and grandmother were first. The last was the murderer. Yunjae "simply watched the whole thing unfold" (2).

Yunjae's mom started noticing his symptoms when he was six. One day, after she forgot to collect him from kindergarten, Yunjae wandered off. When he reached the main road, he found a group of boys beating a smaller boy. After the boys left, Yunjae watched the hurt boy bleed and heave. He told a nearby shopkeeper there was a boy in the alley on the verge of death. The shopkeeper did not believe him, later discovering it was his son, already dead. Yunjae watched him grieve.
