Chapters 8 - 9 Summary

Lucifer and Phyllida travel the next day to the east and verify that no strangers rode in from that direction on the day in question. During the day, Phyllida once again refuses to tell her secrets and Lucifer assumes it is because she still doesn't trust him. It is also during this day that Lucifer begins to think that the manor needs a family living in it.

After they verify that no one rode in from this direction, they decide to take their picnic lunch to the cliffs. They are now surrounded by beautiful scenery, they have been in each other's company all day, and events similar to the ones on their walks in the woods begin to unfold.
