Summary

In Chapter 31, Nok watches Yai and Yord selling orbs. She can sense that Pong is nearby but does not see him. Nok overhears a conversation in which women discuss joining Ampai's protest at the Giant's Bridge and that they were instructed to keep it quiet so the Governor does not know. From the limited conversation she hears, Nok believes she has uncovered a plan to attack the Governor. She abandons the hunt for Pong to deliver this news to the Governor, believing that to be the right thing. She goes through the Botanical Garden and remembers a conversation with her father who said his father got a place in the government after the Great Fire.
