Summary

In Chapter 5, Godfrey is seated at a wooden table observing the celebration going on around him. Godfrey is Gwen’s brother and he has been sent by Gwen to try to broker peace between the MacGils and McClouds. Godfrey decides that throwing a party with lots of liquor and women will achieve that and the party is in full swing. Godfrey has heard some of the MacGils and McClouds talking together over the course of the evening and he hopes this is the beginning of friendship between the clans. He begins to worry a little as the men become drunker by the minute and it seems likely that the situation is going to get out of hand. An argument erupts and Godfrey tries to stop the fight short of violence. It seems he might succeed but the McCloud man involved grabs the MacGil...
