Prologue, Chapters 1-2 Summary

The story begins in November 2000. Dr. Greg Hewitt stands in his office, talking to his younger sister, Anne on the phone. Anne invites Greg to a dinner party. Greg knows it is Anne's way of trying to set him up with another single female friend. Greg tells Anne that he is leaving for Mexico in the morning. This will be his first vacation in eight years.

Greg begins to relax as he leaves the office. An attractive woman gets on the elevator. Greg thinks the woman is very attractive although everything but her silver-blue eyes is vague.

Greg gets off the elevator and goes to a small red sports car. As Greg puts his briefcase in the trunk he realizes briefly that this is not his car. The thought fades and Greg closes the trunk.
