Treason Summary

Barton has been killed in Gill while Lanik is gone. Lanik knows he must seek out and destroy any of the illuders throughout the lands and Families. More than that, he realizes that the whole Family land of Anderson must be destroyed, because any survivors can still hold the Planet of Treason captive. He goes to Schwartz for help, but the Schwartzes first disdain him and want to send him away because of his supposed misuse of power. They are ultimate peacemakers and they know that any life that is taken will cause the earth great pain, and that they will feel this pain as well. It is too great a moral sacrifice to use their magical powers to take life. Lanik argues at length with Helmut, who represents all the Schwartzes, who at first adamantly oppose Lanik's plans. Lanik leaves in despair...
