Gill Summary

The servant, Dul, who is one of the illusionists from Anderson, has preceded Lanik to the land of Gill, forewarning the residents that Lanik is coming, and so Lanik is immediately taken captive. The people of Gill think he is the actual person who has killed thousands and destroyed lands and crops, although that person is really Lanik's double, generated from his intestines when he is wounded in escaping from Nkumai. He is tortured, cut, shot with arrows, and almost burned. If a Mueller is burned, he cannot regenerate, but fortunately, the torture stops short of burning Lanik. Since he is not burned, he can still regenerate, so fortunately he escapes with his life. He is buried but he is master of earth so he can surface from his grave. Gill is a brutal place where no one respects life or the dead...
