Miss Marple meets Miss Bunner at the Bluebird Cafe. Miss Bunner tells Miss Marple all about how Miss Blacklock took her in and keeps her busy. Miss Bunner's mind is fading, but Miss Blacklock is always extremely understanding. Bunny expresses her skepticism of Patrick and Julia and her belief that these tragic events involved one or both of them. She says she saw Patrick in the shrubbery with an oily cup.
