Summary

In Chapter 21, Fayre watches as Nesta and Amren face each other, worried about Nesta. Amren finally says that Nesta has to begin learning to shield herself and tells Fayre to leave. Fayre agrees after asking Nesta if she is really alright. That night, Fayre has a horrible nightmare. Rhysand wakes her and comforts her until she calms herself.

In Chapter 22, Fayre and Cassian are going to the prison in an effort to recruit the Bone Carver to fight for them. Cassian knows the histories of most of the prisoners, but knows only that the Bone Carver was apparently an old god who was “able to fell hundreds of soldiers with one breath” (233). While releasing such a powerful being is dangerous, Cassian believes it might be the best of several bad ideas. The Bone Carver appears to Fayre as a little boy...
