GEORGINA DIDN'T CONSIDER herself an addict. Addicts were people who were physically dependent upon a drug. Two kids at school were crack addicts, and everybody considered them lowlifes. Some people called Georgina's cousin, Francine, a food addict. She was at least fifty pounds overweight and obsessive about eating. So when Georgina's boyfriend accused her of being addicted to tobacco, she called him absurd. They had a big argument and didn't speak for two days.
