Mr. Twit

This character is the male counterpart of the married couple at the center of the text. He is ugly, mean, vicious, cunning, and manipulative. This 60-year-old character has a dark, scraggly beard, terrible personal hygiene habits, and a special love for being cruel to everyone, including animals, children, and his own wife.

Mrs. Twit

This character is the female counterpart of the married couple at the center of the text. She is now hideously ugly, but the narrator reveals that this character had previously been beautiful. However, years of thinking nasty thoughts have ruined this character's looks. This character carries a walking stick, which she claims helps to relieve the pain from warts on her foot. The real reason she carries the walking stick, though, is so that she can hit children and animals with it.
