Objective

The Castle is an important part of the setting of the novel and becomes central to both the plot and themes. The objective of this lesson is to examine the setting of THE CASTLE.

Lesson

1) Ask each student to write a short description of the Castle. Have the students read their descriptions and discuss each one as a class. What can you say about the Castle based on the description? How does the Castle's physical description and location relate to its function in the town?

2) Break the students up into groups. Have each group discuss the Castle as part of the novel's setting.
