Objective

Philippa Gregory is a well-known English writer and broadcaster who is famous for her historical and contemporary suspense novels. Some of her works include, "The Other Boleyn Girl," "The Constant Princess," and "The Queen's Fool." This lesson discusses the author Philippa Gregory.

Lesson

1) Library research: Have the students research Philippa Gregory. Explore her other literary works as well as her personal background. Take a look at interviews, the author's website or blog, critical essays, etc. to gain information on her writing and where "The Boleyn Inheritance" fits in with her other novels.

2) Presentation: Have students get into pairs and prepare a presentation on Gregory and her canon. Have each group read an excerpt from different novels written by Gregory during their presentation. At the end of the presentations, have students compare the tone and style of "The Boleyn Inheritance" With Gregory's other works.
