Objective

The objective of this lesson is to analyze explicit and implicit claims of authority (ethos). Who has the right and obligation to discuss a topic is something of a theme in the book, Me and White Supremacy, so ethos appeals are particularly important. This is true even in front matter written by someone other than the author of the main text, as is the case with DiAngelo's foreword to the book.
