Objective

The author states that usually, when women go into therapy, it is a means of self-care and empowerment. The objective of this lesson is to discuss how therapy can help women do so.

Lesson

1) In-class writing assignment: In one to two paragraphs, have students answer the following: According to the author, why do most women go to therapy? What do they get out of it?

2) In-class group work: Divide students into groups of three or four and have them discuss the following question: How does therapy help women learn self-care and empowerment?

3) In-class group discussion: Have students discuss, as a class, the results of their group work. In addition, have them discuss the following questions: What do women learn in therapy that helps them with self-care and empowerment? How do women change, as a result of therapy? What is the author's goal for women in therapy...
