Objective

Objective: Post World War II, the idea of femininity was involved entirely within the house and home. The objective of this lesson is to compare the image of women's positions in society then and now.

1) Initiate a class discussion on the roles of women in the past and present. What is the main difference between the past and present? Has the situation for women improved or gotten worse? How?

2) Break the class into groups of two or three and have them discuss social views of women past and present. What social factors contribute to the views of women in the 1950's? Post 2000?

3) Have each group research the rates of women attending university now and then? What classes were popular in university in the 1950's? Present day? Explain whether this information supports the social views of women in both times.
