Objective

The story opens with Carolina going about her daily business.The year is 1955. Carolina walks the streets of the favela in search of paper and junk she can sell. Each day is a struggle. Carolina has three children that she has to feed each day. They are Vera, Jose Carlos, and Joao. Each of the diary entries written by Carolina is very personal. She writes as if she is the only one meant to read them. The objective of this lesson is to analyze the writing style of Carlona Maria de Jesus.
