Class Discussion: Define elitism. Discuss how elitism is shown in this story.

Journal Entry: Have each student write one or two paragraphs detailing their opinions of elitism.

Class Debate: Have students split into groups to debate whether Homecoming is an elitist ceremony.

Homework: Have each student write an essay explaining their opinions about Homecoming. Is Homecoming a good tradition for schools to build morale and school spirit, or is it simply an exercise in elitism? These should be persuasive essays.
