1. Name and discuss one theme presented within the epigraph of 10 Minutes 38 Seconds

The novel's epigraph presents the words of Albert Einstein after the death of his closest friend. He states that his friend is gone, but that for people like the two of them, who subscribe(d) to the laws of physics, "the separation between past, present, and future has only the importance of an admittedly tenacious illusion" (7). One theme prominently featured within the quote by Einstein involves the strength inherent in human relationships and the way in which those relationships live on through the memories of the deceased person's loved ones.

2. Discuss a particular detail in the prologue entitled "The End" that communicates an element of Leila's personality.

When the prologue begins, Leila is just beginning to realize that she is no longer alive. Even so, the narrator states that if Leila were to hear someone talking about her in the past tense, "she might take offence and playfully" throw "one of her high-heeled stiletto" (11). This detail portrays Leila as having been strong and confident in life, but also kind and playful.
