The Crash Overview

The Crash is a 2025 psychological thriller by Freida McFadden, published by Poisoned Press. It tells the story of protagonist, Tegan, who is held hostage by a woman named Polly after Tegan’s car crashes and Polly’s husband, Hank, rescues Tegan. The novel largely takes place in Hank and Polly’s rural home during a particularly brutal snowstorm and is told alternately from the points of view of Polly and Tegan, ending also with the point of view of Hank. It deals with issues of rape, abuse, and unplanned pregnancy, and it explores themes such as how It is important to care for the most vulnerable, the ways in which abuse thrives in secrecy, how it is important to put the needs of children above those of adults, how there are multiple ways to have a strong family, and the ways in which people are easily deceived when they lack crucial information.
