Summary

In Chapter 11, Yrene arrived at Chaol’s room late the next morning and sent Kadja away. She told him that a healer was killed last night. Yrene worried that the killer had been looking for her. She asked Chaol to join her at the self-defense class she taught for the healers. When she began to work her healing magic on Chaol’s scar, he screamed. In Chapter 12, Yrene identified that the dark magic in Chaol’s injury hated her magic, which caused Chaol great pain. She believed that the darkness was feeding on Chaol’s thoughts.
