Part III, Chapter 8 Summary

Sita recounts how she gave Arturo her blood in exchange for being able to hold her daughter in her arms again. After Arturo takes Sita's blood, she convinces him to break his vow and make love to her. Arturo starts experimenting with crystals and Sita's blood on a street boy that is also retarded. Arturo is able to transform the boy into a normal boy. This represents his ability to change the mind.

Next, Arturo experiments on a woman with leprosy. A few days after the transformation, her fingers and toes start to grow back. Even though they tell her not to tell anyone, the woman tells everyone. This causes rumors to spread. After this, Arturo only experiments on the retarded, dead and blind.

It is at this time that Arturo starts building the vampiric DNA model. He realizes...
