Summary

Clementine narrates Chapter 23. She is at the school dance, and her mother has come instead of her father, which makes her a little embarrassed. Although, Clementine mostly misses her father. She is jealous of all the other girls who are able to be with their families. Miranda, the classmate who has been bullying her, continues to bully Clementine and even starts a fight. Clementine attacks her and gets suspended from school.

In Chapter 25, Eve ponders how her daughter could have acted that way she did at the dance. When she is thinking about this, Eve is outside in the garden with the other residents. harvesting the first vegetables. Eric’s dog, Rupert, comes running up to where all the residents are sitting. Eve witnesses a very touching moment between Anna and Luke; Anna is afraid of dogs and Luke protected her.
