Postmortem - November 27, 1955 Summary

It was Palacios who took Daniel to the hospital, and the story told was that Fumero had been in the old house alone when he had been attacked and killed by a gang of thieves.

Daniel woke up in a hospital room surrounded by his father and friends. He had almost died and been unconscious for eight days. Everyone was relieved that Daniel had survived. Daniel's father took him a notebook and the Victor Hugo fountain pen in case he wanted to write. One evening, Daniel woke up and saw the figure of Julián Carax. Julián sat with Daniel a while and held his hand. Daniel asked Julián to take the pen, which the author did. When Daniel told Bea of Carax's visit, she was unbelieving as everyone thought that.....
