Miquel guesses that Julián has gone to look for Penélope at the Aldaya old residence. When he finds his friend there, Miquel warns Julián that Fumero is looking for him to kill him. Julián thanks Miquel for everything he has done for him over the years. They then go to a restaurant for a meal.

Julián explains that he had been home to his father, the hatter's house. Fortuny was very emotional and happy to see his son. He warned Julián that Fumero had been by asking after him.
