Nuria Monfort: Remembrance of the Lost - 1933-1955: Chapters 1 - 3 Summary

Nuria begins her letter by explaining that she met Julián Carax in 1933 when she was working for the publishing house Cabestany. Though Carax produced a book every two years, these were complete flops and very few copies sold Nuria read all the books and was fascinated by them. Every so often someone would call the publishing house asking for Carax's address. Nuria soon met Miquel Moliner who financed the publications. Miquel and Nuria soon became very good friends, brought together by their love of books. Moliner fell in love with Nuria, but she not with him. Moliner told Nuria never to give Carax's address out. Miquel confided in Nuria, telling her about his childhood and all about his friend Julián.
