Chapters 13-16 Summary

In Chapter 13, Walt and Sadie travel to the Delta where they believe Bes's shadow is hidden. On the way, Walt tries to talk to Sadie about his impending death, but Sadie will not listen. She is unhappy with the idea of Walt's death. Then they are interrupted when they arrive at their destination and find the god Neith, the hunting goddess. Neith wants to hunt Sadie and Walt. However, she promises to let them live if they can survive to sundown. Sadie devises a plan in which she and Walt will run from Neith separately and when one gets caught they will call to the other psychically and the other will pull the endangered one away with the use of the shen amulet they both wear. This ploy seems to work until they become distracted by Bes's shadow.
