Section 6: Chapters 16-18 Summary

In Chapter 16: How Zia Lost Her Eyebrows, Zia wakes Sadie and leads her to the cleansing room where they join Carter. Saying the Kanes are ready to duel now, Zia takes them to Luxor through a portal. After drawing circles in the sand, Zia instructs that the first to knock the other from their circle wins. As the children begin, a young initiate brings a message to Zia, who cries at the news that Iskandar died in his sleep. She also tells the Kanes that Desjardins is next in line and will have the Kanes executed as soon as he is named Chief Lector. Zia will have to obey when he orders her to bring them in.
