Chapters 11-12 Summary
Chapter 11
A recovering Syrinx vacations on Eden, the original Edenist habitat that orbits Jupiter. She has taken a new, younger lover named Aulie and together they walk in the parkland of the habitat. One day, Syrinx walks alone in the park until she stumbles upon the house of Wing-Tsit, founder of Edenism. He tells her that he has been dead for hundreds of years and that he can talk to her in a physical form because she is not really visiting Eden, but has been placed in a protective psychophysical environment. She is really in a bed in the care center in one of the habitats orbiting Saturn. Her access to her memories of the torture she experienced has been blocked. She will be exposed to them in a controlled manner that will allow her to deal with the trauma. This is done and Syrinx survives the initial contact...
