Summary

Chapter Four

Thomas waited for Chuck at a designated tree. He looked around again at the courtyard. The gaping hole of the Box where he’d come from was still open, inviting him to jump back in and go home. He noticed a smaller concrete building with a large iron door. He was curious as to what was inside, but he dreaded actually finding out. Chuck had invaded Frypan’s kitchen and gotten a couple of sandwiches for them. Thomas asked what had happened to Ben – he didn’t even look human. Chuck didn’t know. Thomas asked Chuck what was beyond the courtyard. Chuck had never been outside of the Glade. Thomas confronted Chuck about being secretive, but Chuck responded that was just the way of things.
