Photography

Photography is symbolic of how Jordan views the world, or wants to at the very least. She tries to be level-headed, logical, and focused, and looking at the world through the lens of a camera allows her to do that. Her conceit is that cameras cannot lie, and show its subjects without bias or judgement. Jordan wants to find the truth in the world, and therefore decides to do so through her photography. Of course, early on in the novel Jordan takes the photo of Anneliese doing the dishes, and through the imposing expression that she captures of Anneliese/Lorelei, she exposes the true nature of her new step-mother without even realizing it at first.
