Part 1, Chapter 5 Summary

Balazar's henchmen bring Eddie into the building. He meets with Balazar and tells him that he will exchange the hidden cocaine for his brother. What he does not know is that his brother has been given a fatal dose of heroin and is already dead in another room. Balazar strip searches Eddie to search for the cocaine but cannot find anything. Eddie tells Balazar that he will go into the bathroom alone and then come back with the cocaine. Balazar sends one of his henchmen, John Andolini, into the bathroom with Eddie.

Balazar is determined to kill Eddie no matter what the outcome is but he is willing to indulge Eddie in this strange request to conjure the drugs by magic. He doubts that Eddie has any sort of secret plan and.....
