Chapter 10 Summary

On Tuesday morning, Qwill wakes to the cats wrestling on top of him and the bed. He grows fidgety when Iggy does not arrive by 9 a.m.. When Mildred visits at 10 a.m., she asks about Clem's disappearance and suggests that her clairvoyant friend, Mrs. Ascott, may be able to throw some light on the mystery of Clem's disappearance. Qwill agrees to attend a meeting as an observer though he is skeptical. When Iggy finally arrives near noon, Qwill details the job and gives Iggy money for cigarettes. Iggy buys cigarettes and picks up the lumber, returning three hours later without nails or a ladder. Qwill writes until he is disturbed by the noise of Iggy finally returning to work but the shingles are the wrong color. Qwill tells Iggy to remove them and replace them in the morning.
