Chapter 32 Summary

The New Year comes and Valancy and Barney continue to live and enjoy their life in their Blue Castle. Sometimes, Roaring Abel comes to spend hours and even nights with the couple. Valancy's family, at this point, considers her dead. The only one that still thinks of her safety and happiness is Cousin Georgiana.

Valancy finds a newspaper clipping about a man by the name of Bernard Craig that was a bank teller that ran off with some of the bank's money in Montreal. Valancy assumes this bank teller is Barney and that Snaith is an alias. Valancy only has one bad winter night. It happens when Barney goes away for a night and there is a bad winter storm brewing. Valancy doesn't stop worrying until she sees Barney the next afternoon, dark against the white snow the storm has left behind.
