Chapter 31 Summary

Autumn comes. Valancy and Barney continue to enjoy exploring the great outdoors together. Autumn turns to winter. Barney even teaches Valancy how to snowshoe. They also ice skate on the lake. For Christmas, Barney buys Valancy a string of pearls.

It's as if Valancy and Barney exist in their own world. They might not be rich with possessions, but they are rich with joy and fulfillment for what they do have in life.
